Here's how it will work. You will call
1-888-776-8890 and hear a personal message from me saying: "Hi, this is
Barbee and Friends and Kitt's Kloset Doll Clothes. Please leave me your
name, number and a brief message. I will call you back very soon or the next
business day."
Recently I have been getting calls
from either a) businesses apparently thinking they will be able to speak to
me and sell me something or b) someone who does not have the common courtesy
to leave me a message. If it pertains to an order or possible order, I WILL
call you back so please leave a message. If you do not, you will be added to
the blocked list. If you are a business and leave no message, consider
yourself on the blocked list. People who call me from work will show up as a
business but they have been very good to at least tell me they are calling
from work. Thanks for your cooperation. Anyone who bothers to read this page
or even my home page will realize this is a message-only number to keep my
costs down. I will monitor emails closely during the Christmas season in
case you have ordering issues to ask me about.
If you are wondering, "Kitt's Kloset" is
the name of my other site for
handmade American Girl clothes.
You will then leave me a brief message
and how I can reach you along--knowing where you are calling from would be
great as well. I am EST/EDT. I may be able to call you back within the hour
or it may be the next day. My messages are emailed to me from my 800 service
and I will return your call. When I'm very busy, it could easily be the next
day before I can call you back.
Calls about possible Barbie clothes sales
are very important to me so I will make the best effort I can to get back to
you. It should be no different than calling my old number and leaving a
message on my machine which was rather impersonal. That was one drawing
point of getting this number, being able to leave you, my valued Barbie
clothes customers, a nice welcome message so you are sure you have the right
place.
Another reason for doing it was so that
my family and I can actually have our evenings and weekends free. I know
some of you are very excited about my Barbie doll clothes and I am really
grateful for that and so happy to know you love what you see (at least
everyone I talk to tells me this!) Some people are SO excited that they tend
to forget what time of day it is even if they are in the same time zone as I
am. So this will be a good way for them to at least leave their message for
me to call back as soon as I get a free moment or the next business day.
With my old number, I had already made the decision not to take weekend
calls because it tends to interfere with family time. My daughter is in
college and when she's home, I value that time a lot as I know she will soon
be out and on her own.
Another reason for getting this number
was to deter salespeople. My old number had Caller ID so of course I would
not answer anything that said "unknown" or a toll free number calling me.
And as expected, these people never leave messages. Well, they are in for a
surprise when they call my toll free number because they will only have 60
seconds to talk or they can choose to hang up like they do with my answering
machine. Either way, it's peace of mind not having to hear the phone ring or
sometimes, when the Caller ID gives me a city, I may have answered it
thinking it may have been a doll clothes customer. To my disappointment it
was sometimes a sales call. Then I had to explain that my old number was NOT
a business number, it was residential and that yes, I was subject to the Do
Not Call list.
Keep in mind that I am a one-mom (with
sometimes the help of my mom) business working out of my home and real life
does happen. Please don't get worried if I cannot return your call within 24
hours--that is my goal but as I said, real life happens sometimes.
Yes, this should be a lot easier having a
toll free number for Barbee and Friends. Customers always welcome,
telemarketers beware.
